【序論】
本論文では、ギルバート・ゴスリンの短編小説における現代の物語性の探求に焦点を当てる。近年、物語の構造や内容が進化し、物語性の概念も変化してきた。このため、今日の短編小説における物語性の研究は重要であり、ゴスリンの作品はその例外ではない。本論文では、ゴスリンの短編小説がどのように現代の物語性の要素を取り入れているのかを明らかにする。まず、現代の物語性の定義と特徴について概説し、その後、ゴスリンの作品を分析する。具体的には、テーマ性やキャラクターの描写方法、ストーリーテリングの手法などを分析し、物語性の要素がどのように表現されているのかを検討する。また、ゴスリンの作品が現代の物語性のトレンドにどの程度追随しているのかも検証する予定である。本論文の結果は、現代の文学作品における物語性の理解を深める一助となることが期待される。

In this research paper, we focus on exploring the contemporary notion of narration in Gilbert Gosling’s short stories. In recent years, the structure and content of narratives have evolved, leading to changes in the concept of narration. Therefore, the study of narration in short stories today is significant, and Gosling’s works are no exception. This paper aims to shed light on how Gosling incorporates elements of contemporary narration in his short stories. We will first provide an overview of the definition and characteristics of contemporary narration, followed by an analysis of Gosling’s works. Specifically, we will analyze the themes, character portrayal methods, and storytelling techniques to examine how elements of narration are expressed. Additionally, we will investigate to what extent Gosling’s works adhere to the trends of contemporary narration. The findings of this research paper are expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of narration in contemporary literary works.
